Map Title = AkiraReminiscence
Author    =   [[N]][Phase]

 Features:

 + A hidden radioactive weapon.
 + Protected spawn areas.
+ Locker doors which cannot be opened again until they fully reset.
+ A variety of zone types along an extensive playing area.
+ Places with sharp differences in accessibility and/or danger.

 Bugs and drawbacks:

+ The playing area is too big for a small number of players.
+ Lights attached to movers behave in weird ways.
 + Lag.
+ Certain things look odd but in most cases they were altered to reduce the detail level or to avoid a bsp cut.
+ There are two large bsp cuts which i couldnt and havent fixed. they show from a very small number of positions so I dont think youll see them often.

 About the concept:

The map did not have a theme until quite a while after it was started. It takes a few things from the movie Akira but I fear that it will neither please Akira fans nor players looking for a "realistic" map. The first group will not be pleased because of the divergences and the second . . . er . . . well, the second group should not be playing this unrealistic game in the first place.
For me it was a huge experiment where I crammed whatever I felt like doing. Borrowing certain concepts, the maps represents a secret research facility where a hideous experiment has gone out of control thus forcing people to abandon it. Yes, there is an obvious influence from the OceanLab level and, as far fetched as it may sound, the 1994 version of the game Metroid was probably somewhere in the back of my mind as I worked on this.

About the stadium area which doesnt look like as supposed to:

By the time I found out how to improve it I was too eager to move on to other projects and at the same time would have been forced to build again many other structures which were related.
You can feel free to modify this map anyway you like as long as you change the file name so that it is understood that the resulting map is a different version and, if you also plan to distribute it, state what are the changes you have made so that credits are distributed accordingly.
If you still go on complaining about the simple looking stadium area I can provide you with a copy of an unfinished version with a stadium made of "steps" and lit by burning barrels for you to work on or simply enjoy (sorry I had already deleted the stairs by that time but you can still have hundreds and hundreds of surfaces to stare at as the screen updates).

 Important:

To play this map you need to put the map file (dx) on the maps directory, the textures file (utx) in your textures directory, and package file (u) in your (deusex) system directory.

If you want to host it you will also have to edit your deusex.ini file and write the map file name in the next free location of the [deusex.dxmaplist] entry. There is a similar list further on stating the recommended number of players (mapsize) for each map, write (2-16) where corresponds. You will also have to find the [Editor.Editorengine] entry and add the line "Editpackages=NPhase" towards the end with the other "edit package" lines. Proceed similarly with the "bomb" package (which was something added at the last minute just like this line
).

Further comments:

I like to thank everyone who either inspired me to work hard on this project or contributed with their advice and/or opinions. Special thanks to that player who warned me of some serious mistakes just the day before I planned to release this thing.
