"No. It looks as if the rival gang's have not been able to get in to where Omatsu is. He may have traps set up in case they do." A bullet whizzed past the translator's head and he dropped flat on his stomach. Tiberius ducked down and helped him back up.

"I have an idea, but it's a dangerous one. We need to get through that manhole."

"We can't do that. We'll have no cover. They'll shoot us as soon as they see us."

"It's either that or make a mad dash for the main entrance. From here there aren't any other ways in that don't involve a long circling of the building. The longer we spend deliberating, the sooner they'll find us."

The translator thought on this for a minute, then nodded reluctantly.

"All right, but I hope you know what you're doing."

Me too.

"OK, here's the plan. I'll send off a flare and keep their attention away from the grate. Then I'll run out and secure the area around it. When I give you the signal, you run out and open the manhole, then get down inside. I'll cover you until you're safe, then follow."

"What if you're shot?"

"Pull me in if you can, but remember that one of us has to reach Omatsu. You need me here, but you're the critical one when we get inside. If I go down, you'll just have to complete the mission without me."

Tiberius wondered why Carson hadn't said anything regarding this idea. It didn't seem like he would approve of taking such a risk here, but Tiberius used his silence as confirmation.

This is the real deal. No second chances.
