<P>He looked out the window, first up into space, then down towards the street to see the real world again. The fighting had died down quite a bit, and he could only see a few shots being fired. Something across the street caught his eye, though. A movement of some kind. He struggled to focus on it and the crawling in his head came back. He realized that he had activated it as a defense mechanism. Something wasn't right.

<P>The translator and Mr. Omatsu's voices rose higher and higher. They had passed any point where they would reach an agreement. Tiberius ignored this however, along with the pain in his shoulder. All he could do was focus. Suddenly, there was a very rapid movement from across the street. A large projectile was flying at him fast. All at once, the targeting reticule and numbered display inside his vision returned. The reticule followed the rocket's approach, never losing it. It was almost at the building when it suddenly exploded, shattering the window and throwing Tiberius off his feet. He was pushed off the floor and landed a few feet back, rolling over as the bits of glass came down on him.

<P>Omatsu and the translator stopped abruptly and hurried over to see what had happened. Omatsu drew a sniper rifle from behind his desk and went to the window. He fired a single shot, then turned around. The translator helped Tiberius back to his feet. Both looked at each other, then at Omatsu. Omatsu spoke first.

<P>"You...saved...my life," he said, in very careful English. It was obvious he was having a tremendous amount of difficulty finding the words. "We...make deal now."
