"Can't you be a little more specific?"

He received no further response from either doctor. They worked efficiently, if somewhat carelessly, then left with barely a word between them. Bewildered, Tiberius took a moment to examine the hotel room. The bed had been removed and replaced with a gurney surrounded by various machines and instruments. Not many had been put to use in this case. A medical robot moved about at a snail's pace, occasionally making some mechanical noises as it did so. The room was lightly furnished, its most striking feature being a holoprojector at the far end from the gurney. Tiberius got up and walked towards it, and to his great surprise it activated itself.

"I would have liked to be able to debrief you in person, but I suppose this will have to do," said a ghostly image of Arthur Carson. "So much more personal than that damned infolink."

"What's going on here?" asked Tiberius. "No one seems to want to tell me anything."

"They're under orders, I'm afraid," said Carson. "My orders. I do apologize, but this will work much more efficiently if you report directly to me. You're a new addition to my group, but make no mistake: you are perhaps the most important person under my authority."

"What authority? If I'm so important, then why can't you elaborate just a little bit? I don't see how I can work efficiently with you constantly keeping me in the dark."

"Easy, Agent. Let's not allow our emotions to get the better of us. Remember who controls the killswitch."

So cold...

"Well, what can you tell me?" Tiberius took a few breaths and tried to calm himself down.

It's been a long night. Maybe he's right.

"Just this: we are nearing completion. The Zeus AI will be fully operational within a week provided everything works out with Omatsu, which has always been the case with him."
